Surgeon Commodore is a flag rank of the Royal Navy's Medical Branch established in 1958. It replaced the earlier rank of Surgeon-General (1911-1918). It is the fourth highest rank available an officer can attain to in the Royal Naval Medical Service. It ranks below Surgeon Rear-Admiral and above Surgeon Captain. It is equivalent to a Commodore of the navy's Executive Branch.
