Middle East was a naval command area of the British Royal Navy, it was established in 1946 and deactivated in 1958. It was then reactivated in 1962 and deactivated in 1967. At various times it encompassed a shore bases, naval formations and other ships not attached to other formations. Command was initially vested in a Rear-Admiral. It was the maritime element of the larger joint services Middle East Command (Aden), (1961-1967).
