A Inspector of Machinery was a commissioned rank in the British Royal Navy Engineering Branch established in 1847 and existed until 1904 when it was replaced by the new rank of Engineer Captain.[1]

History

The rank was introduced as Inspector of Machinery in 1847 it's equivalent Military Branch rank was Captain. In 1904 the rank was replaced by the new rank of Engineer Captain..[2]
