The Gunnery and Anti-Aircraft Warfare Division was a military staff directorate of the British Admiralty Naval Staff established in July 1941 when the earlier Gunnery Division was revived during world war two under a new name. It responsible for the tactical use of naval weapons and the training of naval personnel in relation to operational requirements. It existed until December 1965 then as part of the Navy Department (Naval Staff) when it was abolished.

History

Before to 1918 responsibility for naval ordnance and gunnery training lay with Naval Ordnance Department with its Directorate of Naval Artillery and Torpedoes. In 1918 a new Gunnery and Torpedo Division was established under a Director of Naval Artillery and Torpedoes who had been reassigned from the naval ordnance department. In 1920 the work of the Gunnery and Torpedo Division was split up into separate divisions the Gunnery Division and Torpedo Division. In 1928 both were abolished and in July 1941 a new Gunnery and Anti-Aircraft Warfare Division was revived which existed until December 1965.
