The Controllers Department was a major department of the Navy Department established in 1964. I was responsible for and was superintended by the Controller of the Navy until 1997 when it was abolished.


Responsibilities

The department was responsible for research and development, design, production, inspection, repair and mainatantance of all HM Naval Service ships, including their weapons and equipment.
