The Chief of Staff to the Commander-in-Chief, Far East Station. was a senior British Royal Navy appointment. He was the commander-in-chiefs principal staff officer and controlled and directed the Far East Station's headquarters on a day to day basis from September, 1948 to November, 1962.[1]

History

The office was created in September, 1948 the first incumbent of the office was [[[Commodore 2nd Class]] Geoffrey Frederic Burghard. He was the Far East Station's principal staff officer providing support to the commander in chief until November, 1962 when the Far East Station was renamed Far East Fleet and this office was additionally renamed Chief of Staff to the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Far East Fleet. The final office holder was Rear-Admiral Bryan Cecil Durant.

Role

The Chief of Staff ran the Far East Station's Headquarters on a day to day basis. He was responsible for the coordination, prioritisation and coherence of all staff effort within the Naval HQ.
