The Chief of Staff to the Commander-in-Chief, British Pacific Fleet. was a senior British Royal Navy appointment. He was the commander-in-chiefs principal staff officer providing support and he ran the (BPF)s headquarters on a day to day basis from December, 1944 to September, 1948.[1]

History

The office was created on 1 December, 1944 the first incumbent of the office was Commodore 1st Class Michael H.Hodges. The Chief of Staff, British Pacific Fleet was formally known as Chief of Staff to the Commander-in-Chief British Pacific Fleet. He was the British Pacific Fleets principal staff officer providing support to the commander in chief until September, 1948 when the fleet was disbanded. The final office holder was Commodore 2nd Class Stephen Hope Carhill.

Role

The Chief of Staff ran the British Pacific Fleets Headquarters on a day to day basis. He was responsible for the coordination, prioritisation and coherence of all staff effort within the HQ.
