The Chief of Staff to the Commander, Far East Fleet [1] was a senior British Royal Navy appointment. He was the commander-in-chiefs principal staff officer and superintended the Far East Fleet Headquarters on a day to day basis. He was responsible for the coordination, prioritisation and coherence of all staff effort within the HQ..[2]

History

The office was created in November 1962 the first incumbent of the office was Rear-Admiral Bryan C. Durant. He was the |Far East Fleets principal staff officer. The final office holder was Rear-Admiral Francis B. P. Brayne-Nicholls. In April 1964 Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Far East Fleet's title was altered to Commander, Far East Fleet at the same time this office was also renamed to Chief of Staff to the Commander, Far East Fleet.

Role

The Chief of Staff superintended the Far East Fleet Headquarters on a day to day basis. He was responsible for the coordination, prioritisation and coherence of all staff effort within the HQ.
