Ceylon was a naval command area of the British Royal Navy established in 1934 and deactivated in 1958. At various times it encompassed Trincomalee Dockyard Trincomalee Naval Base and Colombo Naval Base and ships not attached to other fleets. Command was initially vested in a Captain then later an Admiral or a Vice-Admiral.[1]
