The Accounts Department was created in 1796 by amalgamating the work of Bill Office and Ticket Office both of which became subsidiaries with this department. It was overseen by a committee of the Navy Board. In 1832 following the abolition of the Navy Board it was absorbed into the Department of the Accountant-General of the Navy but now part of the Admiralty.
