The 2nd Aircraft Carrier Squadron was a formation of aircraft carriers of the Royal Navy first formed in January 1947 as part of the Mediterranean Fleet. In December 1952 it was disbanded.

History

This squadron was first established In January 1947 and was assigned to Mediterranean Fleet. Vice-Admiral Sir Sir Cecil H.J. Harcourt was appointed Vice-Admiral Commanding, 2nd Aircraft Carrier Squadron he was additionally appointed Flag Officer Air Mediterranean Fleet and Second-in-Command, Mediterranean Fleet, and all succeeding appointees held the same joint titles.[1] In December 1952 the 2nd Aircraft Carrier Squadron was disbanded, however HMS Ocean, Theasus and Glory continued to serve in the Mediterranean Fleet until October 1954.[1]
